 The
sport of lawn bowling is an ideal recreation for Portugal and in
particular in the south with the warm Algarve climate, which allows
players to bowl all through the year. Perhaps the one exception
to this is during the height of the summer when the best place could
be is sitting on a sandy beach or in the shade! At the moment the
sport is only practiced in the Algarve and there it is rapidly increasing
as a popular location with six main active clubs and several others
planned to open. To this date there has been no Crown Greens constructed
on which to play.
This
suitability of climate, together with many supporting facilities
and tourist attractions, are proving to be a strong inducement that
is proven by the ever increasing number of visiting Bowling Clubs
from the UK. Also, it is not unusual to find visiting bowlers from
as far away as Australia, Canada and South Africa on the green.
All the Clubs are pleased to receive visitors and usually these
guests can take part in any local competition or just play the green.
Clubs also provide a full range of bowls that can be hired to the
visitor at a nominal charge. |
